Security & Local Processing
YourPDFs is built around browser-side processing. For supported local tools, your browser reads the selected file and performs the PDF operation on your device.
What “local processing” means
The selected PDF or image is handled by JavaScript and PDF libraries running in your browser. The document itself is not sent to a YourPDFs processing backend for those tools.
Permanent redaction
The Redact PDF tool rebuilds its downloaded result from flattened page images after applying the redaction areas. This deliberately removes the original selectable and searchable text layer from the exported redacted copy so covered text is not simply hidden underneath a black overlay.
Password tools and PDF/A
Password protection, password removal, and PDF/A conversion are not currently advertised as working features because their previous implementations could not be verified to provide the claimed security or standards compliance. Those tools should remain unavailable until a tested implementation is added.
External network requests
A browser-based application can still make normal network requests for page assets, analytics, or third-party libraries. Translate PDF also sends extracted text to the MyMemory translation API, which is disclosed on that tool before processing.
Sensitive documents
For highly sensitive or regulated documents, review the disclosure on the individual tool and your organization's security requirements before processing. Local browser processing reduces document exposure but does not replace your own endpoint, browser, or device security controls.
